Job description

Job Description The position does not require heavy lifting, but light lifting (for example, mouse caging materials, approximately 10-15 lbs.) is required. The position does not require labor-intensive tasks, but does require extended periods of time standing and bending at the waist while working with mice. 70% Mouse research activities (mouse breeding, collecting phenotype data, dissections, wet lab work) 15% Perform general lab tasks (communicate with team members on experimental details and progress, inventory supplies, data management, tidying workspace) 10% Maintain an up-to-date and accurate laboratory notebook with records of all experimental details, keep up-to-date records of mouse husbandry 5% Attend research and project meetings Required Qualifications During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments). Must be available during business hours for at least 2-3 hour stretches 2-3 days a week Preferred Qualifications An interest in evolutionary, molecular biology, or animal biology as evidenced by coursework, previous research activities, and/or future goals. Available during the spring semester.
