Job description

Duties As an IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) - TITLE 5, GS-2210-12, you will serve as a technical expert and focal point for Information Technology (IT) security and information assurance policies, planning, programs, initiatives, certification and accreditation. Provide advice and assistance regarding security aspects of processing, storage, retrieval, transmission, and access of classified and unclassified information. Administer and monitor installation compliance with all applicable DoD, USAF, National Guard Bureau and Air National Guard Information Assurance regulations and policies. Administer and maintain the organization certification & accreditation process for assigned SCIF(s) using the Risk Management Framework. Review and implement local policies regarding system access, network rights, and physical access to systems and equipment. Evaluate and assess vulnerabilities of classified network and application server hardware, operating system software, and peripheral network equipment. Update hardware and software architecture databases to reflect installations, turn-ins, and changes in reportable software. Provide input to the ANG Continuity of Operation Plan procedures for system disaster recovery. Review national, DOD and other policies, program proposals, operational and strategic plans, and identify issues requiring tier two actions. Provide technical recommendations for changes to the security posture to the Wing Information System Security Manager. Participate in inspections and surveys of computer systems. Analyze equipment and software reliability and suitability for vulnerability assessment utilization. Conduct analysis of classified network usage, hardware and software capabilities, ineffective practices or procedures, equipment shortcomings, and other relevant factors. Determine, develop, and ensure cooperation and coordination with related IA/CND program efforts. Perform other duties as assigned. Must obtain and maintain a favorable adjudication of a T5 or equivalent investigation. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. This is an Information Security Workforce position. Incumbent must meet position requirements for certification at Level II in Information Assurance Technician (IAT-II) within 6 months or less of appointment to this position. Certification requirements may be found in DoD 8570.01-M Information Security Workforce Improvement Program. Position is designated as OM-ADM-001 within the Defense Cybersecurity Workforce as guided by NIST SP 800-181; National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education, Cybersecurity Workforce Framework. This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP). The employee is subject to random drug testing. Pre-employment drug testing and participation in random drug testing is a condition of employment. Note: The caveat is that the States, Territories, and the District of Columbia cannot drug test until a drug free workplace policy has been established and approved by the United States Department of Health and Human Services. Qualifications SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least one (1) year experience at the next lower level in the normal line of progression through federal service (GS-11) or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that demonstrates the experience and knowledge of a wide range of Information Technology (IT) security and information assurance. Experience that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls. Experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment. Experience briefing and advising supervisors and officers at higher echelons. Experience assessing data, writing reports, researching, and maintaining official database information. Must have Security+ Certification.
