Job description

OPS Consulting is seeking a Systems Engineer Level 2 to work in Laurel, MD. As a Senior Systems Engineer at OPS consulting, you will provide advisory support to DoD, facilitating the development, acquisition and support of complex systems and technologies. Your expertise will help design, create and maintain large-scale systems. You will analyze developmental and operational systems to find more efficient ways of doing things. Typical activities include:
• Analyzing system challenges and identify the best solution to meet project needs;
• Taking a project from conception to completion;
• Managing teams across disciplines; and
• Optimizing systems while maintaining quality. Additional Responsibilities: As a senior staff member your understanding of the big picture, including mission needs and system integration will be key in documenting system level qualities, properties, characteristics, functions behavior and performance. You will assist the Government in achieving stakeholder functional, physical and operational performance requirements over the planned life of the system. You will provide a holistic, integrative approach to balance and evaluate other technical factors. You must be an expert in systems engineering processes. Specific experience is required in the system design process, and the ability to:
• Define stakeholder expectations
• Define technical requirements
• Decompose the system logically
• Define the design solutions. You must be an expert in product realization processes. Specific experience is required in:
• Moving from pure research to applied research
• Integrating products
• Verifying product
• Validating products and
• Transitioning products to operations. You must be an expert in technical management processes, including:
• Technical planning • Requirements management
• Interface management
• Technical risk management
• Configuration management
• Technical data management
• Technical assessment
• Decision analyses You must be able to partner with the program office and be familiar with:
• Identifying stakeholder risks
• Configuration management processes
• Data management processes
• Program management and Technical interchange reviews and
• Integrated master schedules You will continuously assess existing organizational processes and work products to ensure they best facilitate strategic and tactical efforts. You will coordinate with customers, project teams, and related organizations to ensure solutions satisfy the requirements. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required, as you will work closely with customer engineering and technical teams to facilitate complex technology development. Required Experience: A minimum of 14 years of experience and a bachelor's degree or 7 years and a Master's Degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other technical degree from an Accreditation Board for Engineering Technology (ABET) accredited college or university is required. Desired Experience: • Advance degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering or other relevant technical degree
• Experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
• INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional or DAWIA Systems Engineering Certification
• Program Management Professional Certification (PMP) or DAWIA Program Management Certification Security Clearance: A current government clearance, background investigation, and polygraph are required. Pay Range: $49,996.80 - $290,004.00 Pay ranges are a general guideline and not intended as a guaranteed and/or implied final compensation or salary for this job opening. Determination of official compensation or salary relies on several different factors including, but not limited to: level of position, complexity of job responsibilities, geographic location, work experience, education, certifications, Federal Government contract labor categories, and contract wage rates.
