The MITRE Naval Aviation Systems Department's (N233) mission is to advance Naval Aviation solutions with urgency, ensuring warfighter dominance against current and future adversaries in defense of our nation. This is accomplished by delivering timely, effective, and sustainable capabilities to ensure the warfighter's mission success and safe return home. Job Description: We are seeking a highly motivated, creative, and self-directed systems engineer with a discipline in electrical engineering to deliver impactful outcomes across the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR). The successful candidate is an experienced electrical engineer with Naval domain expertise and a solid theoretical and technical background. They will establish a relationship with sponsor leadership to shape the sponsor's requirements to address the DoD strategic priorities. Analyze communications and radar antennas for near and far term threats
Assess the validity of Cameo and MagicDraw models
Evaluate High Frequency Direction Finding (HFDF) antennas and algorithms
Write technical specifications for radar systems and subsystems to be translated into test plans
Lead and manage complex engineering projects focused on fielding near and long-term aviation platform initiatives
Provide systems engineering and program management support based on expert knowledge, experience, and understanding of the sponsor's domain and mission challenges
Communicate technical findings and project status to stakeholders through detailed reports and presentations
Provide technical contributions to formal studies, such as Analysis of Alternative (AoA), Course of Action (CoA), trade studies, engineering assessments, or similar inquires tailored to the sponsor's mission, operating environment, and/or challenges Apply systems engineering methodology and processes relating to strategic technical planning, project management, architecture design, system integration, risk management, and related systems engineering disciplines
Determines feasibility of designs considering costs, time limitations, planning, and other technical economic factors Basic Qualifications: Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics; or 8 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 5 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
Active Top-Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance
Experience with cognitive and adaptive EW system hardware and algorithm software
Ability to evaluate RF performance of space, ground, and maritime antennas, system survivability and the effectiveness of protection measures
Ability to develop antenna models in FEKO, MATLAB, and/or other modelling and simulation applications
Experience with model-based systems engineering tools such as Cameo and MagicDraw
Experience translating operational mission needs into acquisition, technical, and programmatic requirements
This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site presenc Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree in technical field of study
Experience with multiuser digital beamforming for wideband array processing system development and analysis
Experience working with the United States Navy (US Navy) or United States Air Force (USAF) airborne platforms
Experience supporting pre-acquisition and post award events including market research, requirements analysis, and development of innovative acquisition/contracting processes
Experience with modeling and simulation, radar engineering, sensors and sensor systems
Demonstrated leadership in developing and leading new work utilizing modern systems engineering, mission engineering, and system of systems engineering methods.
