Description
A Construction Assistant Project Manager (APM) working on K-12 projects typically has the following responsibilities:
Project Planning and Coordination: Collaborate with the Project Manager to develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets specifically tailored for K-12 projects. Ensure that all phases of construction comply with the educational standards and codes required for school facilities.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain project documentation, including daily logs, meeting minutes, and project reports. Keep track of RFI (Request for Information) submissions, submittals, and any change orders, ensuring that all paperwork aligns with school district requirements.
Budget Management: Assist in tracking project expenses, processing invoices, and maintaining budget records. Work with the Project Manager to ensure projects stay within financial constraints and meet the allocated budget.
Quality Control and Compliance: Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress, ensuring work is completed to specified quality standards. Verify compliance with K-12 building codes, safety regulations, and ADA requirements, especially for school facilities.
Subcontractor and Vendor Coordination: Assist in managing subcontractors and suppliers by ensuring all are scheduled appropriately, materials are ordered in a timely fashion, and any delivery or performance issues are resolved quickly.
Schedule Management: Help develop and monitor construction schedules, keeping stakeholders updated on project milestones. Address any delays promptly to ensure the project is on track, particularly important for K-12 projects due to the academic calendar.
Profile
- 2+ years of experience as an Assistant Project Manager in the construction industry
- Experience with K-12 projects
- Proficiency in PlanGrid, Ranken, and Bluebeam highly preferred
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills
- A commitment to maintaining high safety and quality standards
- Ability to foster a collaborative and positive work environment
- Excellent management skills in budgets, schedules, and resources effectively
- Ability to coordinate and lead diverse teams, including contractors, architects, and engineers.
- Skilled in adapting to changing project requirements and conditions
