Job description

The Manufacturing Engineer will be a key contributor on the manufacturing team as they bring in new projects and continue to grow sales.

Client Details

A low volume contract manufacturer in the electronics space serving the military. 50 people onsite where they are still seeking to expand their team of manufacturing engineers and grow based on new sales numbers and larger project continuing to flow in in 2024.

Description

The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Develops programs for production equipment to ensure efficient and effective operation.

  • Provides necessary information to the Senior Design Engineer/Integrator to create the Cable Block Diagram within the Technical Data Package (TDP).

  • Assigns unique numbers to each cable and maintains the configuration management of all cables involved.

  • Creates and maintains routings, Bills of Material (BOM), drawings, and detailed assembly and inspection instructions, along with visual aids needed for processing orders.

  • Designs and develops tooling and fixtures to streamline the production process.

  • Interprets customer specifications, technical drawings, engineering guidelines, and fabrication requirements, and communicates these to the manufacturing team.

  • Analyzes existing processes to identify opportunities for cost reduction and quality enhancement, implementing improvements where possible.

  • Assesses the scope of projects to determine the required production labor and materials.

  • Serves as a liaison and technical advisor between the program manager, customers, and internal departments, addressing technical issues, coordinating schedule adjustments, and ensuring material availability.

  • Reviews and signs off on engineering packages to confirm they meet all necessary criteria.

  • Reviews, approves, and develops specifications for purchasing fixtures and other production-related items.

  • Incorporates customer change notices into manufacturing documents to ensure all updates are accurately reflected.

  • Reviews requests for quotations, ensuring all necessary information such as the statement of work, quantities, and special instructions is accurate and timely.

  • Compares estimated versus actual costs of past production orders and updates routing times and BOMs to accurately reflect the data.

  • Takes ownership of accounts to ensure that products meet 100% quality standards and optimal yields.

  • Provides and reviews Design for Manufacturing (DFM) support and documentation at all stages of the product design cycle and assembly, including both pre- and post-design for manufacturing.

  • Acts as a technical liaison, facilitating communication and understanding between various stakeholders.

Profile

The successful Manufacturing Engineer will have what follows:

  • 5+ years of experience in the manufacturing space
  • WIRE/CABLE/BACKPLANE experience is required
  • Electromechincal background is a plus
  • Contract manufacturing or contract government experiences is a plus
  • IPC 620 is preferred
