Job description

The Quality Engineer will manage customer complaints, RMAs, DMRs, and supplier CAPAs while leading continuous improvement projects and internal audits. They will also perform root cause analyses, metallographic inspections, and ensure quality standards through reporting, process improvements, and vendor quality tracking.

Their capabilities include the production of composite and metal doctor blades from received laminates, larger welded assemblies for doctoring and filtration applications, precision machining of nozzles through water jet cutting, and sophisticated composite laminate routing and blade/metal skiving processes. Description

The Quality Engineer (Industrial Manufacturing) Will:

Overview:

  • Supports Quality Manager by performing inspections, root cause analyses, corrective actions, and leading improvement projects.

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Handle customer complaints and manage RMAs, DMRs, and supplier CAPAs
  • Lead continuous improvement (CI) projects and internal audits
  • Conduct metallographic inspections and prepare reports

Key Duties:

  • Perform quality inspections, root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions
  • Lead Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) efforts; prepare reports
  • Oversee RMA resolution and report on open RMAs
  • Review and disposition DMRs
  • Lead or participate in continuous improvement projects
  • Lead internal/external quality audits
  • Create/maintain inspection procedures and train on inspection systems/tools
  • Perform metallographic inspections and material analysis
  • Establish machine capability envelopes for key equipment
  • Track vendor quality and provide status reports
  • Support materials testing and dimensional inspections as needed

Profile

The Quality Engineer

  • BS or AS in a scientific discipline with relevant quality or process engineering experience
  • 3+ years in dimensional inspection within a manufacturing environment
  • Proficient in reading engineering drawings and using inspection tools/methods
  • Strong expertise in process improvement (FMEA, Six Sigma, etc.)
  • Experience with large-scale quality programs (automotive/aerospace preferred)
  • Familiarity with metallography and auditing basics (CPOK, control limits)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; skilled at writing detailed, data-driven reports with visualization
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work hands on at a small manufacturing organization
  • Local to Worcester, MA
