Overview
The Senior Director, Head of Managed Access Programs (MAP) Center of Excellence (COE), will be responsible for the creation and leading of a Center of Excellence for Insmed Managed Access Programs (including post-trial access, compassionate use, and named patient programs), in order to deliver best in industry practices and to provide appropriate patients with access to medicines. The Senior Director, Head of MAP COE will work cross functionally to proactively develop appropriate MAP strategies functionally and for Insmed products. This role is responsible for implementing successful MAP operations across all regions globally and for ensuring governance for all activities. The Head of MAP COE will be responsible for successful execution of MAP programs, problem-solving where required. This role will demonstrate strong leadership both with direct reports and across the organization. Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Lead the Managed Access Programs (MAP) COE Function, which will include management of key Insmed Programs such as Post Trial Access (PTA), Compassionate Use (CUP) and Named Patient (NPP) Programs globally.
- Lead, facilitate, and contribute significantly to Insmed MAP strategy, both from a policy and product/indication perspective. Support across the product lifecycle by ensuring managed access programs are a key, proactive part of the overall product strategy aligned to key stage-gates. Ensure that these product strategies are kept relevant and up to date as stage-gates progress for products.
- Ensure that all MAP activities on behalf of our patients are managed in accordance with Insmed policies and procedures.
- Chair the cross functional MAP Committee driving core decisions for the programs and ensure that relevant leadership team members are informed/endorse MAP strategies.
- Develop key strategies relating to Insmed MAP policies and procedures, ensuring that key risks are mitigated as part of these policies e.g. gather and understanding of legislation changes to MAPs globally.
- Act as facilitator for strategic work, ensuring that a clear process is followed, SMEs are brought in, and that leadership receives MAP recommendations in a pre-agreed format.
- Deliver outstanding service to all HCPs and patients across the managed access programs that Insmed provides.
- Provide functional expertise on managed access programs (post-trial access, named patient, and compassionate use) from a global perspective.
- Ensure conversion of MAP strategies into operational activities, ensuring that the MAP team and organization are appropriately supported by the development and implementation of clear processes for these activities.
- Provide hands-on operational expertise to support technical and operational MAP needs.
- Accountable for the authoring and maintaining all MAP policies and procedures.
- Ensure that all MAP strategies and operations are in compliance with local country legislative requirements and Insmed governance processes.
- Ensure that any changes to legislation and Insmed processes are assessed, and that the impact of these changes are incorporated into relevant MAP strategy and/or processes.
- Accountable for the management of Insmed vendors who are responsible for delivering of MAP to countries and patients.
- Manage all activities within agreed yearly budget.
- At all times, complete work on behalf of Insmed in an efficient and professional manner and in line with company values.
- Lead the MAP team to:
- Deliver outstanding service to all HCPs and patients across the range of MAPs that Insmed approves.
- Meet the aspirations and requirements of the business
- Attract and retain high caliber, self-motivated talent.
- Ensure MAP team is trained and clearly understand all Insmed MAP policies, procedures, product strategies and operational processes. Empower the team to continually improve these policies and procedures, ensuring they are always in compliance with legislative and internal requirements.
- Mentor and empower MAP team, taking responsibility for their training, development and wellbeing. Ensure that team members are supported in career progression.
- Manage MAP team performance by use of regular reviews and informal discussions to support and motivate the MAP COE team.
- Monitor resource requirement for COE, ensuring that team are adequately resourced to support patient needs.
- Establish excellent relationships with cross-functional colleagues, working with them to determine resource requirements needed from their function to successfully support MAP COE activities.
- Lead creation of and act as Chair of MAP Cross Functional Committee.
- Bring MAP Committee analysis and recommendations to the Global Asset Team for decisions and endorsement. Ensure communication and alignment on asset strategy and share reporting on execution with key teams including GAT-MAST, GCT, etc. where needed.
- Establish processes and governance for MAP Committee and be accountable for the execution and smooth running of this committee.
- Ensure that relevant functions and Insmed leadership are provided with regular updates on the status of Managed Access Programs, ensuring that the MAP COE is proactive in identifying key milestones and potential risks within the programs.
- Manage any issues or problems in an efficient and effective manner, ensuring that all issues are resolved quickly and effectively.
- Ensure that decisions are made appropriately relating to Insmed MAP policies and MAP product strategies and that the decisions made by leadership are documented and actioned appropriately within agreed frameworks.
- Develop KPIs and metrics for all aspects of MAP in conjunction with relevant functions.
- Accountable for collation and providing metrics on an agreed upon frequency.
- Support in the provision of MAP information to external partners as agreed cross functionally and within agreed processes e.g. required agency reports etc.
- Bachelor's or equivalent 4-Year University degree required, other advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, MD) is an advantage.
- 10+ years in Strategic/Program Management/Operational roles with a broad experience in global managed access programs.
- Deep understanding of Managed Access Programs.
- Experience supporting MAP across regions (US, Europe, etc.).
- Leadership experience with direct reports.
- Strong facilitation and program management skills.
- Ability to influence and drive without authority.
