The Director of Technical Accounting, is a Network level position within the Finance Department of Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH). This position will provide leadership, coordination and maintenance of Hackensack Meridian Health Network's accounting policies, implementation of new accounting standards, perform technical accounting research, and ensure the integrity of financial reporting is in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles for all of the Network. In addition, this position will be involved with annual financial statement and pension audits and will coordinate all external survey completion. Will report to the Vice President of Financial Reporting and work collaboratively with Finance and Executive team members.

This is a hybrid position based out of Edison, NJ. This role will include one on site day per month.

Responsibilities:
A day in the life of a Director of Technical Accounting at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

Reviews, understands, and provides guidance on complex accounting matters to Senior Management and Division Controllers across the Network.

Takes the lead and ensures proper accounting for all accounting transactions specific to mergers and acquisitions, including joint ventures and other contractual agreements with third parties.

Conducts accounting research, provide recommendations on the application of accounting standards, and document the organization's position with formal position white papers.

Remains current on all proposed accounting guidance changes put forth by FASB, GASB and any other regulatory bodies and ensures that leadership is kept apprised of all proposed changes forthcoming and completes impact analysis for the Network.

Oversees the adoption of new accounting standards, including updating Senior Management on the status of adoption.

Ensure all accounting questions are resolved in a prompt manner and are accurately recorded and communicated.

Draft new or make changes to existing policies, ensuring all policies are up to date with the latest accounting and control guidance.

Participates in the annual financial statement audit(s) by leading and coordinating the preparation of the annual audited consolidated financial statements of the Network, updating notes to financial statements for changes to accounting guidance and or transactions that occur within the Network (i.e. intra-Network mergers, external mergers/acquisitions, joint ventures, etc.).

Organize external audit procedures affiliated with resolution of critical accounting issues.

Leads the annual pension plan audits for all of the Network's plans including financial statement report preparation.

Leads the preparation of all external financial related surveys required of the Network (monthly, quarterly and annually).

Assist Vice President of Financial Reporting with special projects as needed.

Other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications:
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

Minimum 7 years of experience in accounting or related areas.

Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP.

Strong analytical, problem solving and research skills.

Excellent communication skills.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

Prior experience in public accounting.

Working knowledge of all aspects of PeopleSoft Financials System.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

Active/inactive Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license and/or Masters in Business Administration (MBA) degree
