Job description

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of civil construction and will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for a wide range of heavy civil projects in NYC. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of construction processes and materials.

Description

  1. Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for heavy civil projects, including roads, bridges, utilities, and infrastructure.
  2. Analyze project plans, specifications, and contract documents to determine the overall project scope and requirements.
  3. Conduct site visits and collaborate with the project management team to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the project.
  4. Solicit pricing from vendors and subcontractors, and evaluate bids for accuracy and compliance.
  5. Review and apply labor, material, and equipment costs to develop comprehensive project cost breakdowns.
  6. Provide value engineering solutions and alternatives to reduce project costs while maintaining project integrity.
  7. Maintain a detailed database of unit costs, historical data, and project trends.
  8. Prepare budget estimates, cost reports, and other financial documents for internal use and client presentations.
  9. Stay up-to-date on industry trends, best practices, and local construction regulations.

Profile

  1. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  2. 5+ years of experience in estimating heavy civil construction projects.
  3. Proficiency in estimation software such as HCSS, Bluebeam, or similar tools.
  4. Strong knowledge of NYC regulations, permitting processes, and industry standards.
  5. Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  6. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  7. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
