Pay Range

The pay range for this role is $125,000-$180,000 annually. Compensation is based on your unique qualifications and experience.

Job Summary The Civil Engineer (CE) position is responsible for engineering future projects and supporting the construction and post-construction phases of current projects as assigned by the President or the VP of Operations. The CE drafts conceptual plans, develops highly accurate engineering details and schedules, coordinates across engineering disciplines, and performs or supervises site survey activities. During construction, the CE also develops or oversees the development of mechanical layout drawings and as-built drawings. Responsibilities and Duties Survey Management:
  • Oversee and manage survey teams to ensure accurate and timely collection of data.
  • Coordinate with surveyors to establish control points, benchmarks, and layouts for construction activities.
  • Review survey data and provide expert guidance for adjustments as necessary.
Site Utilities Design:
  • Design and layout of site utilities including water supply systems, sewage systems, stormwater drainage, and utilities distribution networks.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations, industry standards, and project requirements.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to integrate utilities designs with overall project plans.
  • Utilize Professional Engineer's certification to finalize design for permitting and construction as needed.
Grading Design:
  • Develop grading plans to optimize site functionality, manage stormwater runoff, and ensure proper site drainage.
  • Utilize grading software and tools to create detailed designs that meet project specifications.
  • Conduct site inspections and surveys to assess existing conditions and inform grading plans.
As-Built Drawings:
  • Create accurate and comprehensive as-built drawings reflecting completed construction.
  • Incorporate changes, modifications, and deviations from original designs into final documentation.
  • Ensure as-built drawings comply with project requirements and facilitate future maintenance and operations.
Project Coordination:
  • Work closely with project managers, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to coordinate engineering activities.
  • Review shop drawings and submittals for approval.
  • Provide technical expertise and support during construction phases, addressing site challenges and resolving engineering issues.
  • Monitor project progress, budgets, and schedules to ensure milestones are met efficiently.
Additional Duties:
  • Communicate clearly and use a collaborative approach to share information between relevant teams and trades.
  • Support jobsite safety and actively participate in safety obligations such as meetings, site walks, and other related tasks.
  • Build effective relationships with customers, design team, subcontractors, suppliers, and user groups that reflect and support company core values and exceed the project's expectations.
  • Organize and keep job site filings up to date.

Required Experience and Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • At least 3 years of proven experience in civil engineering roles with a focus on industrial and municipal construction projects.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar design software.
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, project management, surveying techniques, site layout, and utility systems design.
  • Licensed Surveyor preferred.
  • Knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and environmental guidelines.
  • Advanced knowledge of contract documents, specifically drawings and specifications.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to work in an indoor office environment and an active outdoor construction site environment.
  • Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and work in confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment.
  • Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain.
  • Must be able to work in various weather conditions and be exposed to dirt or dust.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment most of the day.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 25lbs regularly and 50lbs occasionally.
  • Must be able to work for long periods of time in front of a computer or while standing.
