Job Summary
Supports the Project Delivery Team throughout the entire life cycle of the project, from bid to completion.
Under the direction of the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent, the Field Coordinator is responsible for project start up delivery activities, and project safety. The Field Coordinator assists in reviewing project submittals, and confirms work conforms to the approved submittals. The Field Coordinator works collaboratively with personnel as assigned by the Project Delivery Team.
Responsibilities and DutiesConstruction Management
- Support and enforce the safety plans and protocols with Safety Manager.
- Support and enforce on-site safety monitoring and education.
- Review of safety protocols with crew & staff.
- Examine and install safety barriers where required.
- Participate in morning huddles, DJHAs, and toolbox talks with crews.
- Perform employee orientation and training of assigned employees.
- Conduct employee evaluation process for assigned employees and implement improvement plans when necessary.
- Develop tool and equipment list for mobilization. Develop site layout and storage plans. Survey and layout the jobsite. Deliver initial construction equipment.
- Support the installation of erosion & sediment controls.
- Support the Installation of office trailers and utilities. Install all office workstations, conference furnishings, and technology.
- Introduce the project team to plant operations staff and review look ahead activities. Establish Delivery routes with vendors. Report damaged goods or incomplete deliveries to the vendor. Report damaged or lost items internally, when this occurs after delivery. Store and manage inventory of materials received based on location and storage requirements.
- Examine and be familiar with the Geotechnical Report.
- Review submittals for picking and storage requirements.
- Submit internal daily reports (Procore). Initiate the release of approved materials (direct purchases).
- Stage materials for installation crews (self-perform or sub) as requested. Update procurement log through all stages of procurement, installation, and payment.
- Inventory tools and manage storage and security. Report missing or damaged tools internally.
- Collaborate with the management of installation crews of secondary subcontractors.
- Support the weekly progress meetings. Support the weekly internal/subcontract coordination meetings. Request all materials required to perform assigned tasks a minimum of one week in advance. Request miscellaneous supplies needed by crews.
- Support the schedule shutdowns as needed with plant operations.
- Introduce the project team to plant operations staff and review look ahead activities.
- Collaborate with the management of spare parts inventory and turn over to owner.
- Support in the development and review start up plan with vendors and project staff. Coordinate the start-up plan implementation with vendors and project staff. Order all materials required for start-up. Store and inventory all required start up materials.
- Transmit all required documentation to the project owner. Transmit all spare parts to Owner and document.
- Perform testing as required by specification for operational design.
- Assess remaining materials and relocate or discard accordingly. Support demobilization from job site.
Cost Management
- Responsible for Submitting accurate daily & weekly payroll for self and assigned staff.
- Code delivery tickets for materials released by one's self and send with all required information to accounts payable.
Skills and Abilities
- Exceptionally detail oriented, organized, and focused on quality.
- Comfortable learning new software applications quickly and with little direct supervision.
- Ability to research and comprehend the details of contract documents and drawings.
- Possess strong desire to keep IT-related skill set relevant and useful.
- Ability to prioritize time to meet deadlines, anticipate issues and avoid bottlenecks.
- Excellent time management and communication skills.
Employment Requirements
- High school diploma/GED required.
- 8+ years of experience in construction duties.
- Ability to read and write in order to maintain records and work schedules, to read work orders, specifications and so forth.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to interact with co-workers, clients & their staff in a respectful and courteous manner.
- Possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Experience
- Previous water/wastewater construction experience.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to work in an indoor office environment and an active outdoor construction site environment.
- Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and work in confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment.
- Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain.
- Must be able to work in various weather conditions and be exposed to dirt or dust.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment most of the day.
- Must be able to lift and carry 25lbs regularly and 50lbs occasionally.
- Must be able to work for long periods of time in front of a computer or while standing.
