Job description

Duties You will provide technical and functional systems management support of database management, support, change management, systems analysis, troubleshooting, security management, project management, and backup and recovery support. You will perform server hardware setup and operating system installation, computer application system installation, technical system administration functions for physical and virtualized environments. You will perform implementation of new computer system hardware and software in support of Regional and Local systems. You will research and analyze operating system and interface requirements to ensure operational viability of supported hardware and software systems. You will provide technical support to functional system administrators of regional and local application systems. You will support regional project management in support of any system modifications or upgrades. You will provide technical evaluation of IT products and tools, hardware and software, that comprise a fully integrated, web-centric, development environment necessary to address customer functional requirements. You will implement and administer a complex storage management system in support of regional and local systems requirements. You will support the development and implementation of all required storage services, including: file replication, backup and restoration, performance management, security management, and change management. You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal. This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases. This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. You will be required is required to obtain and maintain qualification in accordance with DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Management Program, February 15, 2023 and supporting Department of Navy policies. Qualifications Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Developing life cycle management (LCM) system documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in support of legacy systems. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Coordinating with Help Desk personnel and customers in analyzing support issues and developing/revising support processes. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Keeping supervisor informed on the progress of tasks performed with emphasis on those of a sensitive or controversial nature. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Researching and analyzing operating system and interface requirements to ensure operational viability of supported hardware and software systems. In addition to my experience demonstrating the four competencies above, I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing operating systems technical support, storage management planning and support, hardware life cycle and configuration management, and evaluation and support of IT products and tool sets that support an integrated systems environment. Education You may also meet the minimum qualifications through education and/or combination of education and experience by satisfying one of the following: Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, graduate education that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, graduate education that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
