Join Our Team as a Staff Speech Therapist!

Location: In-person
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $50.00 - $55.00 per hour

General Purpose:
Delhi Post Acute are seeking a dedicated Staff Speech Therapist to evaluate and treat patients, effectively communicate with families, physicians, and health team members, and maintain accurate documentation of services in medical records. You will also conduct ongoing in-services and training for facility staff.

Essential Duties:
Patient Evaluation: Evaluate patients within 24 hours (or 1 business day) of physician referral. If unable to complete the evaluation within this timeframe, document the cause for delay in the medical record.
Treatment Planning: Develop effective treatment plans and obtain approval for services from referring physicians.
Patient Treatment: Implement treatment plans as directed by physicians.
Staff Training: Assist the nursing department with training of Restorative Aides.
Collaboration: Communicate regularly with supervisors and health team members regarding patient progress, issues, and plans.
Participation: Engage in Patient Care Conferences, Utilization Review meetings, and Rehabilitation Conferences as needed.
Documentation: Record evaluations, daily treatment notes, weekly progress notes, and recertification documentation per state regulations and payer requirements.
Family Instruction: Educate patients' families or nursing staff on maintenance programs and caregiver training for discharge preparation.
Discharge Planning: Participate in discharge planning to ensure a smooth transition for patients.
Equipment Maintenance: Report any issues with department equipment to maintain it in good working order.
Positive Interactions: Relate positively, effectively, and appropriately with patients, families, staff, and colleagues.

Qualifications:
Education & Experience: Licensed as a Speech Therapist in the state, with ongoing continuing education requirements met.
Language Skills: Ability to read technical procedures, comprehend policy and procedure manuals, and effectively present information.
Mathematical Skills: Proficient in applying concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions in practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Capable of solving practical problems and interpreting a variety of written, oral, or diagram instructions.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Must maintain a Speech Therapist license in good standing with the state board.

Physical Demands:
Frequent standing and walking, occasional sitting.
Frequent reaching, pushing/pulling, and talking/hearing.
Ability to exert varying levels of force (exceeding 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly).
Occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
Good vision abilities: close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, with the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
Characterized by low to moderate noise levels.
