Nurse Training Coordinator

The Nurse Training Coordinator is responsible for the development, coordination, and delivery of training programs for Home Health Aides (HHAs). This role involves ensuring that all HHAs receive the necessary education, skills, and ongoing training to provide safe, effective, and compassionate care to clients in their homes. The Nurse Training Coordinator works closely with the nursing team to ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal standards of care. This candidate will be splitting their time between the Training Center and the field doing patient visits

Key Responsibilities:

Training Program Development:

  • Design, develop, and implement comprehensive training programs for Home Health Aides, focusing on both initial certification and ongoing education.
  • Ensure training covers essential topics such as patient care, safety protocols, hygiene, infection control, and client-specific needs.
  • Create training materials, manuals, and assessment tools that align with regulatory standards and company policies.

Instruction and Training Delivery:
  • Conduct classroom and hands-on training sessions to teach HHAs essential caregiving skills, such as personal care, medication reminders, mobility assistance, and communication with clients.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods, including lectures, demonstrations, role-playing, and real-life scenarios.
  • Offer ongoing education and refresher courses for existing staff to maintain and enhance skill levels.

Compliance and Certification:
  • Ensure that training programs meet state and federal requirements for home health aide certification.
  • Monitor and track certification statuses and ensure that all aides are compliant with continuing education requirements.
  • Prepare students for certification exams and conduct competency evaluations to ensure they meet the required standards.

Staff Development:
  • Collaborate with nursing staff and management to identify training needs and areas for improvement among HHAs.
  • Provide individualized support and mentorship to aides who require additional training or skill development.
  • Implement and evaluate training effectiveness through performance assessments, feedback, and skill evaluations.

Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate training records for all HHAs, including certifications, training schedules, evaluations, and continuing education.
  • Report training outcomes and compliance issues to management, making recommendations for program improvements where necessary.
  • Prepare and submit training-related reports for regulatory compliance and internal auditing purposes.

Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work closely with nursing teams, home care managers, and administrative staff to align training with patient care standards and organizational goals.
  • Coordinate training schedules with the needs of the agency and availability of HHAs.
  • Serve as a liaison between management, HHAs, and clients to address concerns and ensure that care quality is upheld.

Qualifications:
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with active license in Ohio
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related field
  • Minimum of 1 years of nursing experience, preferably in home health or community care settings.
  • Previous experience in training or teaching roles is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of home health care regulations, including Medicare/Medicaid requirements.
  • Strong leadership, teaching, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles and training program development.
  • Proficiency in using healthcare management software and educational tools.

  • Problem-Solving: Able to identify knowledge gaps and address challenges with appropriate training solutions.

Work Environment:
  • Combination of office-based work and on-site training at client homes or healthcare facilities.
  • Regular travel may be required to conduct training sessions at different locations.
  • Flexibility to accommodate training needs outside regular business hours as necessary.
