Job description

Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Physician Assistant (PA) to join our esteemed surgical team. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in surgical care, demonstrate exceptional clinical skills, and excel in a collaborative environment. This role involves providing comprehensive care across the surgical continuum, including preoperative assessment, intraoperative assistance, and postoperative management.

Responsibilities:
Preoperative Care:

Perform detailed preoperative evaluations, including history-taking, physical examinations, and ordering necessary diagnostic tests.

Develop and implement individualized surgical care plans in collaboration with surgeons and other healthcare professionals.

Educate patients and their families about surgical procedures, potential risks, and expected outcomes.

Intraoperative Care:

Assist in the operating room by performing tasks such as patient positioning, suturing, and wound care.

Provide technical support during surgeries, including the handling of instruments and ensuring a sterile environment.

Monitor and manage patient vitals and anesthesia levels as directed by the surgical team.

Postoperative Care:

Monitor patient recovery in the postoperative setting, addressing complications and managing pain.

Conduct postoperative assessments and follow-up visits to evaluate patient progress and adjust care plans as needed.

Provide discharge instructions and coordinate follow-up care with other healthcare providers.

Patient Education and Support:

Offer comprehensive education on postoperative care, including medication management, activity restrictions, and signs of potential complications.

Provide emotional support and address patient and family concerns throughout the surgical process.

Documentation and Compliance:

Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, including surgical notes, treatment plans, and patient progress.

Ensure compliance with all hospital and regulatory standards, including documentation and patient safety protocols.

Collaboration and Communication:

Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of best practices and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:
Education: Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies or related field from an accredited program.

Certification: National certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) and current state licensure as a Physician Assistant.

Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a surgical or acute care setting. Previous experience in a surgical PA role is preferred.

Skills: Advanced clinical assessment and surgical skills, proficiency in surgical procedures, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations.
