This position is 100% remote and candidates can be sourced from across the US as long as they're able to support the CST schedule.

As an Underwriter for Healthcare Supplemental Benefits, you are part of a team assessing risk for Medicare Supplement and a portfolio of supplemental products including Whole Life and Cancer and Heart plans. This team interacts with agents and applicants regarding underwriting requirements and underwriting decisions. Bring your problem-solving and analytical skills and computer knowledge as we change people s lives for the better.
Accurately assess medical history according to established underwriting criteria. This will include review of the enrollment application and available third-party data to assist with risk evaluation.
Understanding of the portfolio of product offerings and the different underwriting criteria used to accurately evaluate an enrollment application.
Reach out to applicants for clarity regarding medical history. This will include asking additional probing questions related to medical history or prescription usage.
Complete application reviews timely. This will include reviewing applications within established turnaround times to meet service level targets.
Clearly communicate and publish underwriting decision details for denied coverage. This will include creating accurate and complete written correspondence.
Build and maintain relationships with other members of the new business team to include the UW Support Team

TOP 3 NON-NEGOTIABLE SKILLS:
Medical UW experience, critical thinking skills
Strict adherence to established protocols and schedule
Strong communication skills
1+ years prior Healthcare Underwriting experience required.
Medical knowledge or prior medical Insurance-related work experience required.
Above average knowledge of medical conditions/prescriptions
Ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency using Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel
Ability to meet production and quality standards
Intermediate PC Skills
Experience working in a remote environment
