Job description
Responsibilities:
Peraton provides management and technical support for NASA's scientific balloon program which supports enabling science missions for NASA and universities across the United States and foreign scientific communities. Scientific balloon missions provide researchers inexpensive, relatively quick, long duration access to near space altitudes and environments. Balloon missions cost orders of magnitude less than satellite missions and provide platforms for heavy experiments (some greater than 5000-lbs) to operate for weeks and even months. Balloon missions have provided significant science theories and discoveries about cosmic rays, gamma ray and x-ray astronomy, optical and UV astronomy, atmospheric sciences, and cosmic microwave background studies.
Our staff are located at the Columbia Scientific Balloon Facility (CSBF) in Palestine, TX where we design, analyze, build and assembly the support hardware and balloon gondola payloads for the missions. We launch the balloons from locations within the United States (Texas, New Mexico, and Hawaii) and around the world including Antarctica, Sweden, New Zealand, and Australia. Our engineers and technician staff support the launches and balloon and payload recoveries in the US and many worldwide locations. Peraton's NASA Balloon Operations Contract (NBOC) program is seeking a Government Property Administrator to join our team in Palestine, Texas.
We are seeking a candidate to provide support for acquisition, receiving, handling, storage, packaging, shipping and disposition to fulfill property regulation program requirements.
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
Capable of managing the disposition of excess government property
Able to work with government and industry partners to request property purchases
Manage a complete inventory of government property, property assignments, utilization and historical records
Assist with property movement, transfers and maintain centralized record keeping system
Responsible for handling, shipping, receiving and maintaining accurate receiving/transfer records, and equipment property identification
Experience with using electronic RFID property management system/s
Manage the documentation upgrades to CSBF-Fabricated Equipment
Familiar with government property receipt, tagging and records
Experience with government property audit
Manage a physical inventory of government property
Experience working with government systems to record lost, stolen or damaged property
Familiar with government sensitive data requirements
Track and maintain government records for maintenance and storage
Experience with government Contract requirements
Act as back up for the Shipping Clerk.
Occasional local and long-distance travel required
Additional Responsibilities and Requirements:
Ability to pass physical exam meeting NASA standards to be a forklift operator
Ability to obtain and maintain forklift license
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
High School graduate with four years of related experience
U.S. Citizenship required (Must have resided in the U.S. for the past five years with no more than six months travel outside the U.S. during this timeframe).
Microsoft Office Suite experience, Word and Excel
Government inventory experience
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand on feet for long durations. Heavy work; exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
Physical activity may include forklift, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, and repetitive motion
Required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment
Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current

Target Salary Range:
$51,000 - $82,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
