Job description

Join our team as a budget technician and support Department of Justice, United States Attorney's Office (USAO) - Eastern District of Virginia. You will be responsible for processing, tracking, and managing financial obligations and payments, ensuring accurate data entry and compliance with budgeting requirements. Additionally, assist with requisition assignments, maintain organized payment files, and provide guidance on financial documentation, while also preparing financial reports and identifying discrepancies. Work Schedule and Location: On-Site: This full-time on-site position will work Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM at the United States Attorney's Office (USAO) in Alexandria, VA. Responsibilities Receiving obligating documents for all types of expenses incurred by the District Assuring entry of appropriate accounting information to litigative obligations Reviewing documents to ensure they are accurate and complete Assisting with the assignment of requisition numbers to obligate requests according to budget category, account classification, and other funding codes Recording funding obligations and accompanying payee information into UFMS Monitoring obligation tracking procedures Adjusting obligations in UFMS Providing guidance to employees on the completion of requests for obligation Developing an organized payment file system for obligation of vouchers and invoices Researching payment files to determine whether pending invoices or vouchers have been previously paid to prevent duplicate payments Purging files as required Maintaining the financial management payment files and advising financial management staff regarding recommended changes or updates Scheduling payment for electronic wire transfers (EFT), treasury payments, and third-party checks Maintaining accountability of related records, advising the financial management staff whenever discrepancies are identified Preparing and processing vouchers and invoices for payment Using UFMS to prepare reports on financial activities Producing a variety of written documents and materials utilizing a range of office software applications Qualifications High school diploma U.S. citizenship 4+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or budgeting Proficiency in Microsoft Office Experience and expertise required to perform the above duties Experience using Unified Financial Management System (UFMS), or a similar finance management system Why Join Our Team At FedWriters, we place the highest importance on creating an exceptional employee experience.
