We support customers with Centers of Excellence in Washington DC, Huntsville, AL and Burlington, MA with an additional 36 locations across the U.S. Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Mid Level Electrician to support full life cycle technical support for all types of combatant craft, boats, watercraft, amphibious vessels/vehicles, Patrol Coastal Class ships, specialty craft/vessels, life rafts, inflatable craft, unmanned vessels/vehicles, and associated craft and mission systems to the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division's Combatant Craft Division JOB DETAILS LOCATION: Virginia Beach, VA JOB STATUS: FT TRAVEL: 0% REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS Successful candidates will demonstrate the following Three (3) to Seven (7) years of experience as an electrician and in the repair of electrical equipment and power generation, transmission, and storage systems acquired through formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience. High school Diploma, trade/industrial school graduate, or GED equivalent required. Current Secret Clearance DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS Related military experience RESPONSIBILITIES The Mid-Level Electrician repairs, tests, and maintains electrical equipment, machinery, and systems such as generators, alternators, motors, and intercommunication systems, makes inspection rounds of electrical equipment and maintains records and schedules of tasks and inspections. The Mid-Level Electrician supports watercraft repair and modernization efforts through the maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical equipment and power generation, transmission, and storage systems. Responsibilities include: Disassembly of electrical systems and equipment to diagnose source of trouble Dismantling or partly dismantling electrical and electronic systems and performing repairs that mainly involve the use of hand tools Repair or replacement of broken or defective parts with items obtained from stock, ordering the production of a replacement part, or sending the equipment to an external shop for major repairs. Experience in drafting written specifications for major repairs or for the production of parts ordered from electrical shops Reassembling electrical systems and making all necessary adjustments for operation.
