Back End Developer/ Quantitative Developer

Future Value Consultants (FVC) specialises in structured products systems and research and has expertise and experience across many areas within investment analysis. FVC has created pricing and analysis systems all developed in house and delivered to clients via web portals and API feeds.

We have a strong group of analysts and developers and are looking for a new developer to enhance our team. The successful candidate will be part of both the business and development teams. They will be responsible for developments required for supporting and upgrading existing systems. The successful candidate will be required to gain an understanding of structured products and of core business processes. This role would suit someone with an interest in financial markets with experience as a developer or in an analytical role.

Responsibilities

  • Acquire experience and a strong understanding of the business applications
  • Work with specifications and handle questions, problems or issues
  • Developing new or existing systems using the company s main languages and approaches across a full stack that includes Adobe ColdFusion, Java, MySQL and web applications in Vue.js
  • Contributing across a range of development roles including application backends and frontends, database engineering, numerical models and internal tools
  • Learn the use of new development tools, programming languages and paradigms as required

Skills & Requirements

  • Experience with software development using at least one high level object-oriented language such as Java, Python or C# an advantage
  • Confident numerically and using Microsoft Excel and its standard functions
  • Able to develop a deep understanding of financial structured products, our methodologies, numerical techniques and the company's internal systems
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail
  • Motivated positive individual keen to learn, develop and contribute
  • Relevant qualification to a graduate level, such as in Computer Science or Mathematics
  • Organised and disciplined approach to application development, testing and troubleshooting, individually or as part of a team
  • Strong administrative skills with ability to independently manage and prioritise workload and deadlines with flexibility in response to changing priorities and needs
  • Demonstrate high quality written and verbal communication skills with both clients and colleagues
  • Familiarity with the following an advantage: numerical computational methods, web application development, MySQL, construction of web service APIs, backend development using Java, C#, Node.js or PHP, financial market or business experience

The job is full time 8am-5pm or 9am-6pm Monday-Friday and is office based in East Sheen, South West London (SW14).
