Job description

Education Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant field or equivalent job experience.

- Master's degree in Computer Science or related field (desirable).

Required Skills for the Cloud Engineer:

- Minimum 2 years of experience in Go, Python, Java, or similar languages.

- Proficiency in programming/scripting languages like Go, Scala, Java, JavaScript, SQL, Bash, Python, or R.

- Experience building HTTP APIs (REST and/or GraphQL) in open-source technologies within a cloud environment.

- Ability to construct and maintain modern cloud architecture (e.g., Google Cloud, AWS).

- Familiarity with PostgreSQL/PostGIS and code versioning tools like GitHub.

- Knowledge of Docker for building/deploying within CI/CD environments; Kubernetes experience preferred.

Qualifications:

- Master's degree in Computer Science or related field (desirable).

- Understanding of open-source geospatial solutions such as GeoServer, GeoTrellis, GeoMesa.

- Experience with stream processing tools like Kafka.

- Proficiency (4 years) in GoLang is advantageous.

- Previous work involving full-stack development solutions in Agile environments is beneficial.

- Knowledge of agriculture or agriculture-oriented businesses is a plus.

- Proven track record adapting to new technologies effectively.

Join Bayer Crop Science's Location360 team as a Geospatial Software Engineer to revolutionize digital products by incorporating spatial and location data seamlessly. As part of the field team, you will play a crucial role in designing big data solutions using open source and cloud-based technologies. Collaborating with various teams, you will build large-scale data processing systems and APIs, working on high-throughput ecosystems dealing with massive datasets daily.

Responsibilities:

- Design, build, and support cloud and open-source systems for processing geospatial data assets through an API-based platform.

- Collaborate with internal development communities to integrate necessary datasets into the asset for Bayer Enterprise use.

- Develop highly scalable APIs and associative architectures to handle thousands of requests per second.

- Lead efforts to enhance Bayer's understanding of environmental influences on field performance and risk factors.

- Engage in all software life cycle stages: Proof of Concept, MVP, Production, and Deprecation.
