Job description

Duties Duties and Responsibilities : 1. Develops, implements, coordinates and monitors all aspects of the R3/SPP related to identification, assessment, intervention and preventive education. Develops training modules for each target group that includes development of lesson plans, supporting visual aids, etc. Designs special courses in response to identified trends and needs of the command, e.g., a high risk profile in crimes against persons at work would dictate a course on violence in the workplace, or matters of general Soldier resilience. Coordinates information for seminars, conferences and orientation workshop's as appropriate in providing instruction and specialized intervention education (stress management, low risk decision making, etc.) to soldiers, family members and civilians. 2. Serves as the collection/collaboration point of contact (POC) for the submission of crimes against persons and property, injuries/accidents, spouse abuse, child abuse and suicide attempts/completions in a computerized spreadsheet system. Maintains adequate records and databases to administer the programs information to provide the necessary reports to the MILPO. Coordinates with the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (SAPR) and State ADCO to provide initial response and support to Commanders and personnel during critical incidents, as well as reviews alcohol offenses and drug positives (to include unit positive urinalysis data) to determine comorbid trends. 3. Creates quality spreadsheets, printouts and graphics for use by commanders, assesses data and provides command consultations to commanders at all levels recommending intervention strategies. Maintains the unit R3/SPP Data reports. Designs and creates effective publications, such as the R3/SPP Newsletter, R3/SPP Alert bulletins, and other training and media materials with an R3/SPP focus. Complies with all regulatory guidelines for publications. Networks with on and off post resources to provide the military community with accurate, up-to-date prevention information. Evaluates R3/SPP, composes drafts of improvement plans with achievable goals within budgetary requirements. Targets possible program problems and designs possible solutions. Serves on command committees and teams as needed representing R3/SPP, Comprehensive Soldier Fitness (CSF) Program, Army Suicide Prevention Program (SPP) and the Army Substance Abuse Program (ASAP). Conducts customized briefings for civilian and military personnel regarding the R3/SPP. 4. Provides plans for an efficient resource management program and maximum support of service delivery. Plans include supported projections of long-term soldier readiness and support plans and resource needs to ARNG level trends and directives. Analyzes the MILPO readiness and support budget functions and provide recommendations to resolve existing or forecasted shortages. Provides advice and assistance to accommodate soldier's needs during full or partial unit mobilizations and to alleviate concern of members about soldier/family welfare in the event of mobilization. Provides plans that maximize readiness and support resources for soldier/family member assistance during day-to-day. Assesses, identifies, and determines soldier/family issues, trends, needs, program priorities, and program effectiveness through utilization of appropriate research methods and resources. 5. Prepares and edits a variety of training aids, organizational charts, slides, briefing materials, etc. on all aspects of the programs. Works directly with the various command groups in scheduling events and meetings or development of committees for the programs related to risk reduction. Compiles statistical data for CSF Program and Suicide Prevention database web sites. Compiles other statistics and prepares reports for the organization to include, but not limited to, Resilience Training and Risk Management. Maintains and provides training on automation and automated systems and assures that the automated systems are within the Army and DoD guidelines and policies. Composes complex correspondence, makes extensive travel arrangements, locates and assembles various information for use in reports, briefings, and conferences. Assists in preparing, submitting and follow up on work orders. As required, performs special or one-time assignments or projects, obtains and analyzes pertinent information and provides comments and recommendations to the supervisor. 6. Provides technical and administrative guidance on a variety of functions in support of the MILPO. Coordinates work operations with accountability for quantity and quality of work. Works with and advises management in developing policies and procedures to help solve administrative problems. Provides training when necessary and evaluates overall effectiveness and efficiency of the office and discusses with the supervisor changes in workflow which will increase efficiency of operations. 7. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. Qualifications GENERAL EXPERIENCE : Must possess experience in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately; ability to clearly enunciate English without impediment of speech that would interfere or prohibit effective communication; ability to write English in reports and presentation formats; ability to communicate clearly and effectively; skilled in presenting formal training presentations and briefings; ability to assess body language and perceive emotional and/or distress levels; and, skilled in applying procedures and directives by reading and interpreting program material. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Must possess One (1) year specialized experience, education or training equivalent to at least the next lower grade or Twenty-four months experience level analyzing problems, identifying significant factors, gathering pertinent data and recognizing solutions; preparing reports, plans, policies and various correspondence; evaluating objectives and develop plans to facilitate the availability and effective utilization of various social science resources; experience utilizing the organization, its mission and the organizational staff procedures; experience interacting with a variety of groups and/or individuals; and the ability to apply analytical and evaluative techniques to the identification, consideration, and resolution of issues or problems of a social science procedural or factual nature. Education You must provide transcripts and/or other documentation as proof to support your Educational claims, and receive credit to meet the Education requirements for this position. Must possess a Degree in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position that included at least 24 semester hours of course work in the behavioral or social sciences OR Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field that included at least 24 semester hours of course work in the behavioral or social sciences OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
