Description

As the Environmental Health and Safety Specialist:


  • Develop and implement safety compliance programs, including Lockout/Tagout, Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, Confined Space Entry, Emergency Action, Fire Prevention, Exposure Control, Waste Minimization, Waste Management, and Contingency Planning.
  • Support health and safety audits and inspections, offering practical recommendations for corrective actions to enhance workplace safety.
  • Assist in creating health and safety management systems by drafting standard operating procedures, guidance documents, and effective training materials.
  • Manage hazardous waste processes, including waste characterization, conducting satellite area inspections, providing training, and liaising with regulatory agencies.
  • Design and deliver training programs on key topics such as Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout, Bloodborne Pathogens, Biosafety, Fall Protection, Ladder Safety, Hazardous Waste Management, Respiratory Protection, RCRA/DOT regulations, and HAZWOPER.
  • Participate in industrial hygiene initiatives, including personal air sampling, indoor air quality assessments, surface wipe sampling, and qualitative evaluations.
  • Conduct job safety analyses and lead incident investigations to identify root causes and implement preventive strategies.


Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline is required.
  • At least 3 years of experience in the Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) sector is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and familiarity with EPA, NHDES, CWA, CAA, RCRA, and other federal, state, and local regulations is essential.
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER Training is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Professional certification in EH&S (such as CSP, ASP, OHST, or similar) is preferred but not required.
  • Must successfully complete a drug screening, physical examination, and background check.
