Hospice Director / Administrator Position Summary:

The Hospice Director / Administrator is responsible to direct and coordinate all the activities of the Agency. He/she is readily available through the agency's office, during hours of operation. He/she may also function as the Clinical Manager.

Experience/Requirements for Hospice Director / Administrator:
  • Currently licensed RN in the state of Ohio
  • PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE WORKING FOR A HOSPICE AGENCY A MUST
  • Ability to wear multiple hats during start-up phase
  • Experience leading/managing others required
  • Knowledge of state/fed regulations and hospice compliance
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Self-directed with the ability to work with little supervision.
  • Consistently maintains a positive attitude, which promotes team and optimal performance.

Primary Responsibilities for Hospice Director / Administrator:
  • Directs day-to-day operations of Hospice Agency.
  • Develops administrative policies and procedures relating to the Agency.
  • Reviews and evaluates existing policies and procedures for overall practice compliance.
  • Directs installation of improved work methods and procedures to ensure achievement of objectives of the program.
  • Coordinates and integrates functional phase of the total Agency activities through regular conferences with department supervisors.
  • Develops standards and methods of measurement of Agency activity.
  • Prepares a yearly budget in cooperation with the Budget Committee and Governing Body.
  • Approves monthly expenditures and monitors the financial position of the agency.
  • Prepares reports on Agency activity for the Governing Body.
  • Determines organizational lines of authority and fixes areas of responsibility.
  • Ensures that the Agency is employing qualified personnel and arranging for their orientation.
  • Authorize and approves hiring and termination of all employees.
  • Authorize and approves all salary increases and staff promotions.
  • Authorizes purchases of supplies and equipment.
  • Participates in coordination and implementation of an ongoing community awareness program.
  • Acts as official Agency spokesperson and representative ensuring accuracy of public information materials and activities.
  • Contacts, local, state, and national associations and participates in meetings, conventions, etc.
  • Cooperate with health and health related agencies to increase and improve services to the community.
  • Ensures that a Clinical Manager is available during all operating hours.

Accountability for Hospice Director / Administrator:
  • Accountable to plan overall development and administration of the Agency.
  • Accountable to keep the Governing Body fully informed of the conduct of the agency through regularly written reports and by attendance at meetings of the Governing Body.
  • Holding periodic meetings to maintain a liaison between the Governing Body, the advisory groups, and the members of the staff.
  • Adheres to privacy and security standards provided by all federal, state, and local authorities of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other applicable laws.
  • Accountable to develop and implement an accounting and reporting system that reflects the fiscal experience and financial position of the agency.
  • Negotiating for services provided by contract in accordance with legal requirements and established policies of the agency.
  • Interprets and transmits Agency policies to the Governing Body and supervisory staff to ensure compliance.
